    Step 21

    "Honor is a Brotherhood concept
That is wrought in the forge of fire
Its muscles are hard, its heart is mild
And its principles will never tire

    Few people will ever understand
But for us, our word is law
For if we ever gave it up
The shame would rub us raw

    PRINCIPLE SEVEN

WIZARDS GO WITH HONOR. We live in the Realm of Choices, and we consider ours well. Our intent is to bring wisdom and knowledge to mankind in hopes that it will grow tall enough to reach its greater self and become well and whole. All that we do is for the benefit of ourselves, our neighbors, and our communities. When we rewrite the [Wand Graphic] script of life, we do it for the benefit of mankind, when we remove a bad apple from the barrel, it is for the betterment of mankind, and when we improve the lot of our neighbors, that too is for the benefit of mankind. Therefore we are an honorable people who are looked upon as pillars of our communities.

Our word is law. We assess a given situation, consider our options, assets and abilities, make our choices, and then follow through. A promise made is a promise kept. When a person asks us if we will do them a favor, we first find out what it is before we commit ourselves to their service, for we live our lives to owe nothing to anyone. The feasibility of anything we do must first be assessed and considered before we commit ourselves to it. Therefore, we would not even make a deathbed promise before considering it, let alone promise to do an unknown action that might be against our principles. The reason our word is law is because we always take our word seriously-- so do others. Our intentions are honorable. We wizards have strong backs and are not overly proud as we understand our place in the All. We stand upon the middle ground of the Realm of Choices where both right and wrong are possible, and we must choose our own direction and alignment with the Force. Moreover, we know from gained experience that intent is a powerful force in itself and must be controlled from start to finish or the results of our actions might be far different than expected. Therefore, we must focus upon honorable intent and constantly compare our daily actions to that perfect model. Consistency is the one true key to success, so we continually practice, applying the Three Ps in all we say and do, never allowing ourselves to slip across the line into dishonor and failure.

We are to be trusted. It is this long range consistency that earns the trust of our associates, as they know from experience that we will make the right choices and have the fortitude to carry them through to completion. We will not change sides in the middle of any fray or betray anyone to an enemy spy. We do not ever attempt to be everyone's friend as that is not possible, and our strong suit is finishing jobs according to plan. That is why all wizards who practice the Seven Principles will continually grow in stature in their communities.

"We Wizards plan our lives, first one
day, and then another. We also examine
the various bits and pieces that make
up the whole of our existence. We look
ahead to what the future might hold, all
the while figuring out how and when we
can improve upon what the winds of
    fate have cast before us."

"Every time you break your word
or fail a trust, you have lost a little of
yourself. Lose enough of yourself, and
you will dry up and blow away in the
winds of time, forgotten, because you
    have never accomplished anything
    respectable or memorable. You
    will become the invisible one,
    and not trouble the memory
    of the human race."

    Step 22

    "Many changes have occurred
Since we started on our journey
The way we live and breathe and think
Has made our lives seem sunny

It matters not the way we were
    But what we have become
It's not the separate parts that count
    What matters is the sum."

    PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER

The time has come once again to pause and catch our breath. We have traveled a fair distance up the Wizards Way, and we must now reflect upon what we once were and what we have currently become. We must ask ourselves if we can see a difference and try to define just what it is that we have accomplished in these past weeks. [Cheer Leader Graphic] More important, we need to assess how other people are now looking at us, and how their attitudes toward us have changed. True, our growth has been rather gradual, but the cumulative effect should be noticeable. We should now be perceived as persons of true substance whose opinions are valued, and we should also be looked upon as one who knows. Our stature should have increased, and it would be in no way presumptuous to suspect that we have accumulated a following of persons who wish to learn by observing us as our flame shines a little bit brighter than most. This is as it should be, but with the knowledge comes the responsibility.

This is a time for smoothing off many of our rough edges and polishing our qualities and abilities until they shine like a well honed sword. Let us not only examine our strengths but also our weaknesses, for there is much to be gained by recounting. Regardless of what we have been told by other people, perfection is possible; it just takes practice and self discipline. What we can't accomplish today will be easy tomorrow thanks to the application of the Three Ps and our own determination.

Let us now take time out and ask ourselves what lessons have been hardest for us to accomplish. We must be totally honest with ourselves, for as in the game of Solitaire, we can cheat no one but ourselves. Our hardest lessons, the ones that elude us or grant us only marginal success graphically point out our weaknesses. We must now list our weaknesses in our journals and confront them toe to toe. We must see them for what they really are and assess their qualities, listing their difficult points one by one. We will then use the old divide and conquer strategy to overcome them, as conquering the fragments will bring us victory sooner than taking on the whole at once. That is why we have broken the Wizards Way into many small lessons. However, there is no reason why the concepts of each lesson can't be broken down further into their component parts for ease of handling. Remember, we want all wizards to succeed and overcome their limitations.

    Step 23

    "For strong and healthy wizards
There is something to be said
It's better to have them running around
    Than lying sick in bed

    The spiritual life's important
But so is the body too
And if you don't take care of yours
There will be trouble in the brew."

    WELL BEING

So far, we have concentrated upon the basics of perception, awareness, mind and character. Now, let us consider our physical bodies that actually tread the dust of the Earth. Often our awakening wizards are so wrapped up in their mental and spiritual selves that they forget about their physical body and allow it to atrophy. We wish to point out that this is not a sound practice as the mobility of a healthy well-tuned body is a definite asset. Now, there are many different types of bodies. There are tall, short, muscular, slight, fat, thin, old, young, healthy, crippled, and average. They also come in all colors, so wizards need to take care of the one they have no matter what kind of body it is.

    CARE AND FEEDING

We must care for our bodies by keeping them clean, feeding them properly, and fully exercising them on a daily basis. Cleaning is easily accomplished by the liberal application of soap and water. Soap is an emulsion made by rendering fat until clear, straining it through cloth, then adding a small amount of lye-water made from soaking wood ashes in water for several weeks. After the ashes settle to the bottom, the clear lye-water may be dipped off and a portion of it mixed with the rendered fat. The mixture is then cooked and stirred over a fire until an emulsion forms. This finished emulsion may then be poured into wooden molds to make bars. A warning here, too much lye will make the soap too strong, and it may irritate the skin. Aging will mellow the mixture, and the best soap should be aged for about a year. The purpose of soap is to cut and remove grease and grime from the body so the skin pores can breathe. Clean water is then used to rinse off the caustic soap film. After washing, a little oil or lotion is fine to soften the skin and hair. Also, brushing the teeth and gums often is also a right habit to acquire as leaving the natural scum on them will soon rot them causing great pain and loss. Just brush the ones you want to keep, being sure to clean between them. A piece of thin, strong string, dipped in wax is an excellent tool to clean between the teeth.

Knowing that what you really want to do is turn lead into gold, why would we bother with this basic knowledge? Well times of darkness have come before... Soap is just another potion in a long list of healing devices used by wizards. In the past, Wizards have saved many lives by its application. Then, of course, in a time of ignorance, disease and death, soap can be worth more than gold-- so can pepper, but that's another story.

    WHAT'S FOR DINNER?

The choice of food a person eats is in some measure dictated by availability. However, when many choices are available, a wizard will eat a variety of foods in order to intake proper amounts of vitamins, minerals, fats, sugars, starches, fiber and protein. The key thought here is the amounts. Humans tend to prefer large quantities of animal [Pie Chart Graphic] protein and fat because it tastes good and sticks to the ribs, staving off hunger for a longer time. Unfortunately, such practice will result in an early death preceded by protracted illness and disease. The reason is that humans are omnivo- rous, not carnivorous. Meat does not provide all the nutrients needed by the body, and the accelerated fat intake will eventually clog the arteries, shutting off the blood flow, causing an early demise. As always, balance is important and a Wizard will calculate the ratio of animal products to plant fodder for best health. The proper ratio for a person doing hard physical labor is 30% protein which includes fats, against 70% carbohydrates which include grains, legumes, vegetables and fruits. Milk and its various products are counted as protein and fat. For a person doing light physical work, the ratio is 20% protein and fat against 80% veggies and carbohydrates. Refined white sugars, and salt should be kept to a minimum.

    LOGICAL AMOUNTS

Not only what we eat but how we eat is also important. Our systems are not designed to consume large quantities of food at any one time, and doing so will work against us. Instead of eating large amounts of food at one sitting, a Wizard will eat no more than four mouthfuls of food at any given time. Four mouthfuls will vary in size and weight according to the size of the person in question. Each person should experiment to find the normal volume of his or her mouth and then multiply by four. This should amount to as little as six ounces to as much as twelve ounces. That breaks down to from one to four ounces of animal protein and fat against several ounces of plant fodder in one form or another. Once the correct volume is found, a person will know how much to eat at one sitting. Then, small bites should be taken and chewed slowly and well. Above all, one should not eat because it is time to eat, but should eat only when the body calls out to be fed. There is absolutely no reason to feed a body that is sated. However, depending upon conditions, various natural herbal and mineral supplements may be added to a person's daily diet to make up for poor quality food or lack of decent variety. Look out for concentrations of refined sugars in any food, as sugars may adversely affect the body chemistry. Remember, play the percentages to win.

    DRINK LOTS OF CLEAN WATER

Clean water to drink is also a must, and the average person should consume at least ten double handfuls a day, more if the weather is warm. Remember that salt is necessary in hot weather to help retain water in the system. Without it, a person can dehydrate and expire before they know what has happened to them. By the way, while traveling any distance by foot a wizard would do well to make up a batch of easily consumable but well balanced dry food. This food is easily made by mixing the proper ratio of powdered dried meat and flour made of grains and perhaps legumes. Finely chopped dried fruit may also be added along with the correct ratio of salt, sugar and fat. This mix may be made into a paste or dough and then baked into a sort of thin cookie or hard tack. Pieces of these cookies can then be broken off and hydrated in the mouth as needed. When added to what is found along the way, they will keep a traveler well fed for many days.

While on the subject of feeding, let us stress the importance of injesting or inbibing foods or juices of an acidic nature. Most people's bodily ph balance is too alkaline and breeds bacteria of all sorts. The kidneys and gall bladder tend to grow stones mostly of calcium, so it is well to take a little vinegar, lemon, lime, grape fruit or tomato juice each day to combat the effects of these maladies. Most bacteria and virus strains such as flue and whatever tend not to breed well in an acidic environmnet. Keeping your system slightly acidic can have positive effects! That is why vitamine C is so popular these days, and people who take enough, seldom experience colds or flues. An inexpensive urine ph strip will tell the story. If yours reads well into the alkaline, then consider ingesting enough of the above acidic potions to drop your urine ph value to about a 5.6. If you maintain this level, you should notice a freedom from the above maladies. As little as a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar a day can make a considerable difference in your good health. There are many books on this subject available in libraries and health food centers.

    GET SOME EXERCISE

The next bodily need to consider is exercise. Bodies were meant to move about freely to promote blood flow and strong digestion. Muscles need to be stretched and pulled and trained in pairs and groups, and the only way to do that is to use them. Even those who do hard physical labor need to do loosening up exercises to keep fit as often a person's work only requires use of certain muscles, leaving other pairs and groups unused. That is why workers complain of tiredness and soreness. They have created an imbalance in their structure.

Lifting heavy weights is not necessary as light ones will do nicely. Use just enough to train your muscles and keep them free. Never jar yourself about, but practice twisting and turning, reaching and pulling, pushing and stretching. Use the principle of many repetitions. Generally three groups of ten are enough. Aerobic exercise such as calisthenics and walking are adequate to balance out a session. By the way, a session should last at least thirty minutes.

Sedentary individuals who do mostly head work should plan three sessions a day, morning, noon, and evening to make up for the inactivity required by their work. Remember, it is do it now or suffer later. The idea is not to strain, but keep fit for top health. A daily regimen might include a session of calisthenics in the morning, a little light weight training after lunch, and a brisk walk before going to bed in the evening. There is no reason why these sessions couldn't be done as a group activity if desired, and the variety of a sport such basketball or volleyball will improve both mind and body by adding a little healthy competition to the mix. Here is wisdom: all wizards are responsible for their own actions, their own upkeep, and their own maintenance. After all, who else would be?

    "An apothecary can be kept
    Upon the kitchen shelf
An herb or two, here and there
    Can restore a Wizards health

Watching what you eat and drink
    Can make a difference too
    And a little pleasant exercise
Can warm you through and through."

    HERBAL METHODS

There are times when no doctor is available or the services of one is withheld for political reasons. Therefore, all wizards should have a solid working knowledge of their local plants and herbs for the purpose of healing the sick and making it through one more day. Many wizards collect and stock many such herbs and potions and are known as healers. Why not acquire a book on the plant life in your area. Be sure to acquire one with color pictures depicting the different species. When it comes to plants, no verbal description is adequate. All that really works is matching the plant to the picture. Then, you will know what is safe to eat, what is poison, and what has healing properties. After all, you are supposed to be one who knows, right? After all, it's nice to know that digitalis comes from Foxglove, Valium comes from Valerian root, and that natural aspirin can be obtained from simply chewing Willow bark.

The root of valor or Valerian root was used in conjunction with other ingredients to make what is known as the warrior's potion. This infusion (tea) was fed to the Roman soldiers of old before battle to soothe their nerves and give them courage to fight well. It worked then and it works now. To soothe one's nerves, combine equal weights (not volumes) of ground Valerian root, Sweet Hops, Chamomile, and Skull Cap. work down to a powder in a mortar and pestle or a blender. The Valerian root is tough so grind it first. This resulting powder can be brewed as a tea (infusion), or loaded into gel caps. Required dosage is about a half teaspoon of the powder in a pint of water or taken with food. It takes about 30 minutes to work. Don't worry, you'll never get hooked on the stuff as it tastes terrible. Anyway, the idea is for you to learn what is around you and check your assets, building up a supply of herbs for your own use. This is not an herbal book, so we can't go into all the herbals available on the Earth, but we have included the normal methods used by wizards to make their potions.

    [Mortar Graphic]

METHODS: here are the basic methods of extracting the useful elements from most plants. Be sure that you are using the correct plant and then the proper part of that plant. Beware, for both medicine and poison may be extracted from one plant. For example, most people can eat tomatoes, but the stems and green parts are a deadly poison. Know what you are doing before you do it!

INFUSIONS: herbal plant green parts and blossoms: for those herbs that are most potent when steeped into tea, simply follow this procedure: dissolve from one half to one ounce of the crushed or bruised herb in a pint of boiling water. Cover and allow to stand for 20 min. Strain and drink as directed. Often, sugar, honey, mint, anise, fennel, or other flavoring will improve or mask the taste.

DECOCTIONS: plant roots, wood, bark, and seeds: these must first be finely sliced, chopped, or ground then added to cold water in a non metallic pot. Then bring to boil for a few moments until salts and principles are extracted. Remove from heat and steep as tea. The ratio is generally about one half ounce plant matter to a pint of water.

SYRUPS: Dissolve about three pounds of raw sugar in a pint of boiling water until syrup forms. Medicinal ingredients may then be added to the cooled syrup.

POWDERS: Chop, cut, or dice plant matter as fine as possible, then dry and grind with a mortar and pestle or between two rocks or other such implements until powdered. Blenders work well too. Powders may be ingested with water, juice, soup or milk. The usual dose is as much as can be picked up with the tip of a table knife.

TINCTURES:Mix up a pint of 50% water and 50% grain alcohol, add about 4 ounces of plant matter and let stand for two weeks, shaking mixture twice a day. Then strain and pour tincture into a dark bottle suitable for storage. A tincture is usually diluted before use. Be sure of the strength of your alcohol before diluting. One hundred proof alcohol is already 50 percent water. An easy way is to just add your essences to the proper amount of 90 proof vodka, brandy, rum or your favorite libation. A properly made tincture will last a long time, if kept tightly sealed and out of sun light.

JUICES: Wash, cut, chop, and mash plant matter, add a little water and mash some more. When reduced to a paste, place in a cloth and squeeze out the juice. Add a little water to the squeezed pulp and repeat process to get the last of the juice. Of course, a press is much faster-- even a screw press. One can be quickly made from available materials, using an automotive screw jack or better yet, a hydraulic bottle jack as the ram.

COLD EXTRACTS: This process is the same as the juicing process, except, instead of squeezing out the juice, mix the pulp or paste with water and let stand for about 12 hours. This process is best for preserving the most volatile ingredients. When ready, strain into a clean jar and dose the same as tea.

ESSENCES: When preserving the essential oil of certain plants, simply press out the oil and preserve in a pint of alcohol. This is important when the plants in question are only harvestable once a year. Dose as a tincture.

    HERBS FOR EXTERNAL USE

POULTICES: collect necessary plant matter and cut, chop, and mash into a paste. Heat the paste and place in a damp cloth, then place the poultice on the affected area. Add warm water to cloth to keep the poultice warm. If using an irritant such as a mustard plaster, be sure to rinse the area with water or chamomile tea to soothe the skin when poultice is removed.

OINTMENTS: add the processed plant essentials to petroleum jelly, fat, bees wax or lard. Add a drop to the ounce of tincture of benzoin as a preservative if a per- ishable fat is used. For example, a few drops of eucalyptus oil, peppermint oil, and a drop of capsicum in petroleum jelly makes a fine ointment for sore muscles.

COLD COMPRESSES: use either a cold decoction or an infusion mixture, then wet a towel until saturated. Ring out and then wrap or place the damp towel on or around the affected area and leave until body heat warms the towel. Then dampen the towel again or fan the air with it to cool it down and then reapply. Ice, if available may also be used.

HOT COMPRESSES: the opposite of a cold compresses. In this case soak the towel in a pot of warm infusion or decoction and apply to affected area. This is milder than a poultice or plaster. However, it is easier on the skin. Be careful not to get the towel so hot that it causes a scald.

HERBAL BATH: a full bath may be used to submerse the whole body which is useful for opening pores or to ease pain, itching, or inflammation. A half or sitzbath may be used for bathing a selected area of the body. Heat a bath of water and prepare a concentrate of correct plant matter, enough to bring to bring the bath water up to usable strength. This may require anywhere from a few ounces to several pounds of herbal matter. Add the herbal concentrate to the bath water and climb in. Both hot and cold baths are useful.

VAPOR INHALATION: generally volatile oils or essences are placed in a bowl of steaming, hot water. The patient should breathe the steam. A towel may be used over the head as a tent to capture more of the rising vapors. Eucalyptus oil and mints are great for this purpose.

    Step 25

"Nothing in life is really free
    And neither is the knowing
The toll of knowledge must be paid
If you want to keep on going

You must agree to keep our laws
If you want to come with us
    Simply promise that you will
And agree to keep the trust."

    LOOKING AHEAD

Now awakening wizards, it is time that we should take up our staff and journey a bit farther up the Wizards Way. The next milepost is in sight, but all must all pay a toll before we may pass it. You see, we have reached another threshold and are about to cross into another dimension where mortals with their many burdens may not pass. Fear not, for if you have practiced the previous lessons diligently and have allowed them to achieve their purpose, you have earned enough coin of the realm to easily pay your passage. You see, we are drawing nearer to that mist-shrouded [Bridge Graphic] bridge we spoke of so many miles ago, and yes it is a toll bridge. Everything we have shown you so far has been to prepare you for the coming event, and there is still more preparation on the horizon. However, there is now the matter of the toll to be considered should you wish to journey farther on our Road of Power. Now one way or the other, everything in the All has its assessed price even if it is only the expenditure of energy to reach over and pick it up. However, this stretch of road will cost a bit more than a little energy. Our toll for a wizard to pass is one of commitment and responsibility.

The Wizards Way is quite straightforward and so are our requirements. In fact, you have already read or heard of them in the previous lessons, so they should not come as any sort of a shock. The toll we would extract from you for further passage is your solemn promise, on your honor, to keep and obey our laws which have been accumulated over the millennia for your benefit and the benefit of all. We wizards take our laws seriously, and you must too in order to advance farther. The reason is that everything you have previously done, you accomplished within yourself, and you have grown to greater stature for it. Now to travel farther, you must have the aid and assistance of those who have passed this way before. Without their help, no person may continue, for no one knows the way. There is a solid principle of wizardry involved here: we make wizards better, we do not create monsters. Here is wisdom: the law is self fulfilling. Those who keep the law will receive every consideration; those who break it, will receive no help at all. Reading farther will gain you nothing if you rebuke our law. The words will echo hollow and empty as the connection won't be made, and the Force won't flow.

    Step 26

"There is yet a better way
    To live in harmony
    Because the Olders handed down
That way for you and me

It's not too hard to live our way
If you will learn to see
In time you'll learn to open up
    And set your spirit free."

    THE LAWS OF THE CIRCLE

We offer you these laws in good faith and good reason and hope that you will find them quite ordinary and acceptable. More than that, we hope that they were an integral part of your normal activities and personal code of ethics long before you ever heard of the Wizards Way. Ours are the laws of intelligence, responsibility, compassion and protection which are universal among beings of the higher orders of life. Since the Wizards Way is a preparation for living on the higher planes of existence, it is necessary that these laws be second nature to all souls who expect to tread the pathway to the stars. After all this is Earth School, the gateway to the All. To those of good heart and good spirit who pass its tests, the gates to the starry realms will swing open wide, and they shall know magic.

    [Law Graphic]

    "The wind of spirit blows
    and takes the pain away
from all who let their troubles melt
and seek a better way. "

    THE LAWS OF THE CIRCLE:

    1. Keep an open mind.
    2. Seek the Force and its gifts.
    3. Read the message written upon your heart and hearken to its meaning.
    4. Keep a journal in your own hand of all the wisdom, knowledge and gifts given you in your travels and endeavors upon the Wizards Way.
    5. The youngers shall follow the advice of the elders, and the elders shall show favor to the youngers.
    6. One wizard shall never be master of another.
    7. Reveal not the name, place, or face of any other wizard within the scope of your knowledge or the sphere of your remembrance.
    8. Should another wizard or kin-youth be in danger, you must make every effort to render aid and assistance.
    9. Wizards will answer truthfully whether or not they remain convinsteadfast.
    10. Wizards will seek the highest outcome.

    SO BE IT MOTE!

The first law: keep an open mind. It is necessary to keep an open mind in order to learn anything new. Many new wizards come to us bound by limitations taught them by well meaning, but misinformed individuals. The first law realizes that limitations do exist and are the burden of many, but they are not necessarily yours.

The second law: seek the Force and its gifts. The power of all wizards is the Force. If you don't seek the Force, you won't receive the Force and its gifts. If you don't receive the Force, you are wasting your time-- good bye.

The third law: read the message written upon your heart and hearken to its meaning. Wizards will always find the best answer written upon their heart of hearts as the Force will always steer us in the right direction. The problem arises when we don't read the message.

The forth law: keep a journal in your own hand of all the wisdom, knowledge and gifts given you in your travels and endeavors upon the Wizards Way. The reason for this is obvious. Even though most wizards remember the concepts of the lessons, it's pretty hard to remember the fine detail, especially when your years grow long.

The fifth law: the youngers shall follow the advice of the elders, and the elders shall show favor to the youngers. This is an example of a Wizardhood Circle. The little ones must mind their elders, but the elders must make it possible for them to do it. It also means that an elder wizard will never take advantage of a younger.

The sixth law: one wizard shall never be master of another. The Wizardhood is not a serfdom. Wizards walk side by side, one learning one from the other.

The seventh law: reveal not the name, place, or face of any other wizard within the scope of your knowledge or the sphere of your remembrance. This pertains to outsiders and to those who might do us harm.

The eighth law: should another wizard or kin-youth be in danger, you must make every effort to render aid and assistance. We are a family, and families look after each other.

The ninth law: wizards will answer truthfully whether or not they remain convinsteadfast. This is a Wizardhood term that means convinced and steadfast. You either are or you aren't. If you aren't, you won't have the power of the Force at your disposal. In this case, you would be of little help to other wizards or circles of wizards who might depend upon you. You would be the weak link in a chain of power and could contribute to your destruction.

The tenth law: A wizard will seek the highest outcome. The highest outcome will be beneficial not only to the Wizard, but to the majority of those involved or affected by the endeavor.

"The lights of Earth School are very
bright to one so new who has just
come from the velvet reaches of the
Astral Realms. The shock is severe to say
the least, and the new life needs all the
help it can muster to just get started
in this harsh environment. It is well
that the Olders are so compassionate."

    Step 27

"The Force is the source of power
And new life to us all
It gives the cosmos all it needs
And helps us rise up tall

When we've had our share of lies
It will listen for our call
And when we understand its ways
It will lead us through the All."

    THE UNIVERSAL FLOW

The sun shines, the rain falls, and the wind blows, each at their appointed time. The Earth emerges from its blanket of winter white and seeds sprout, bringing all manner of green living things to life, fulfilling their purpose to provide sustenance for the higher orders in the chain. Then as the waters run free, the animals come forth in grand profusion to add their voice to the symphony of life. There is plenty for all in abundance, and all of this vast plenitude has been orchestrated by the hand of chaos.

The spirits both great and small take their assigned stand behind every living thing and aid and assist each one to fulfill its potential, often in spite of its circumstances, helping each to adapt to the way things are, not the way they might be. The Earth gives and the Earth receives. Everything on Earth is part of an endless, ever changing, chaotic cycle of replenishment, one of giving and receiving. The warm sunlight falling upon the waters acts on simple cells, converting them to food for the tiny complex organisms that in turn provide for the shrimp, fish, and larger aquatic animals. The Earth gives of itself to the living green plants who in turn give sustenance to the ruminating animals who return their gift to the Earth. The flowers give a portion of their essence to the honey bees that pass it on to fertilize other flowers before finally taking a small portion for themselves for processing into honey, the life's blood of their kind. The All is in perfect chaos with nature running wild, and mankind, the offspring of the Force, holds sway over all such things bringing order to the chaotic kalidoscope of life.

Mankind has long since learned to manage the plenitude of green and golden produce of the Earth, using it in its natural form and then converting it to other uses. Science has now progressed far enough to alter even the genetic structure of most living things, imparting different qualities, more fully beneficial to the changing needs of the family. Mankind has grown up and is truly the top of the food chain on Planet Earth. We receive, but what do we give? The tides of plenty flow in, but how and when do they recede from our hands? Remember, true and perfect balance must be maintained, and since we are the highest known order of life upon Planet Earth, our physical person [Scale Graphic] sustains nothing. However, our learned wisdom, know- ledge, and spiritual abilities can, if properly applied, sustain much. This is the school for Wizardss great and small, and we are creators, learning, ever learning. How better to learn than to make order out of chaos? In doing so, we get down to the nuts and bolts of creation. How better to change things than by magic? After all, isn't magic the art of creation? Yes, wizards change things. Some, however change greater things than others. Not all wizards are created equal.

It's odd that so few ever realize that the Force only creates and provides energy for all of its creations to grow and do and become. It does not meddle in the affairs of men. Neigher does it judge or influence anyone one way or the other. It does not concern itself with whether we are good or evil or in the middle like itself. It allows free choice. We are given the chance to emmulate the Force or not, and that is enough. The rest is up to us. The Force creates perfect chaos, and from that perfect chaos perfect islands of order may be extracted.

If we want more than this, then we have to create it ourselves. Many do. Mankind, being of a social nature, often requires some sort of great being or "god" to admire, follow or perhaps serve, so to make this charade more convincing, many give an imaginary face or countinence or immage and even a personality to that impression of their "god or gods" as the case may be. Of course, In some instances, it turns out that there is a better than average chance that our ancesters were influenced by alien beings who claimed to return and have therefore admonished us to "Make straight the way of the Lord." However, the chances are more likely that any such alien revealing itself to the masses of humanity today would more likely be shot on the spot. Most of us have no use at all for gods, their bull shit or alien masters of any sort, no matter what their complexion or disposition.

The Force is indifferent. It is gray, not white or black. Why not leave it at that? The only persons desiring embodied god images are those who desire power over the masses through fear and threats. Most people merely pay lip service to the folks of religous persuasion anyway. In public, they worship all the gods. In private, they worship none of them.

The Circle of Wizards is strictly a human organization or church whose purpose is to aid and assist its bretheren through the maize of life and by doing so, help eachother to bring order from chaos in their own lives. Structure has it's several advantages, and there is strength in numbers, so we band together in order to better face the void of the unknown and creat islands of sanity and order out of the perfect chaos of the cosmos. "An ant can't kill a buffalo, but an army of ants can sure eat one."

    [Gratitude Graphic]

"In the Circle of Wizards, we always start with the
small stuff first, then let the little wizards grow
at their own pace. After all, that's what
    they'll do anyway..."

    Step 28

"No matter how many the tracks
That are left in the dust of time
If you find that you don't know the words
    You cannot make the rhyme

The same holds true with the Force and you
    No matter how you try
For even if you toss it up
A bird without wings cannot fly."

    A TRACK IN THE DUST

Men have tried to make the Force into many things over the dusty ages, and they've done it mostly to suit their imaginations. Some have tried to portray the Force as the God of Light who scrutinizes every action and thought of mankind and will one day judge each person for their transgressions whatever that means... Others have tried to make the Force into an evil and dark God who tried to trip up mankind and expose his true nature in order to capture their immortal souls. Neither theory could be further from the truth. The Force does not meddle in the affairs of men even if they want it to. Just look back over recorded history as we know it. Yes, study the past to fortell the future! When did any god ever interfere with the workings of men? Men, of course, have claimed that they did their acts in the name of some god or for another God, but could any ever prove that this was true? All that most have done is to prove the immense stupidity of their god.

    BRING THE FORCE ALIVE

Anyway, the time for the banishment of superstition, fear, and stupidity has come, and the truth shall reverberate in the ether. Here this: the Force is not angry with us as it does not meddle or interfere with us. The Force merely creates perfect chaos for us or anyone who can't stand the mess to untangle. There are many paths leading away from reality, but only one leading to it. That one path is the Wizards Way or something very much like it, and any [Alive Graphic] child can find such a path by simply choosing to find it. That is the purpose of the Force which is to gather companion creators from the chaos by simply letting them rise to the surface. The corporeal side of our Road of Power is tended by the wizards of the realm; the Astral side of our road is illuminated by the power of the wizards who have passed this way before. We call it the Road of Power or the Wizards Way, if you will. However, our purpose is to help eachother along from one side to the other and to learn to make use of the power available to us from the Force. However, it is up to each of us as individuals to make contact and connection with the great power source of the cosmos ourselves. For until we unite with the Force and receive its presence and energy of Spirit, our own spirits cannot hope to soar from the depths to the heights and become true companion creators. Therefore, our base interest is to assist our sleeping wizards to bring the Force alive so that they can learn, do and then teach.

Consider the option of freedom, for the gift of the Force is life and life is free. Spirit wouldn't have it any other way, so Isn't it just about time to reclaim your inheritance and set yourself free? That is what all this is about, you know. Humanity has by and large let go of their spiritual reins and has lost all perspective. They have listened to the purvayors of doom and have lost all hope. Many are sitting around waiting for a savior or at least someone or something to come and do something for them to lift them up from their dispair. These people are for the most part hopeless, but often there is a sleeping wizard among them and it is our job to bring order to chaos and to pick up each and every individual who has potential, separating them from the herd so that they can stand upon their own two feet and begin their journey. In any case, all we can do is try. It is up to each and every individual to make their choice as to whether they want to bring the Force alive and help direct its power. How do you do that? You ask and then do! Yes, call it to you! Use your own words, the Force is everywhere and knows who is who. Remember, actions speak louder than words. Awaken, sleeping wizard! Our aim is to clear your head and open you up to the greater life that is waiting for you on up the Road of Power. How long it takes you to get there is up to you. Here is wisdom: By foot, the road is long, but by spirit, the journey is short. That is why we are lucky to have teachers or wizards who have gone on before. They can help you learn if you ask them.

    Step 29

    Spirit Guides

    "When the time is right
    Your teachers will appear
Their light will shine very bright
But you shall have no fear

Some will teach, some will aid
    And others will comfort you
No matter what your problem is
    They will pull you through."

    The Teachers:

Along the way, when we are ready for it, and I repeat "ready for it" the Gnosis will begin to happen. After asking, individuals will be given answers and insights to their questions and even advanced learning and peeks into the future or at that which is transpiring around them. Mostly, these "golden coins" will come from our spirit guides

There are Older Comforters, Older Elders, Older Masters, and Older Olders. All are teachers, professors or mentors who have chosen to assist us along our paths. Often these beings are referred to as Spirit Guides, Spirit Helpers or even Angels. When we wish to grow spiritually, we must learn lessons. These "Teachers, professors or Mentors" assign us those lessons necessary for our continuing growth.

When we want to move up a notch, we ask for lessons from one of our levels of teachers, choosing the level we are most comfortable with. Think of the levels as 100 level, 200 level, 300 level or 400 level classes. The more powerful we become, the higher the level of classes we may choose or require. The higher the level, the more power we receive when we pass the class.

Think along the lines of credits. The 100 level classes give you one credit, the 200 level classes give you two credits, the 300 level classes give you three credits and the 400 classes will give your four credits. The 500 and up level classes are taught by Spirit. Hang on to your hat!

    The Older Comforter Teachers:

These beings are old hands at the game of life and know from long experience how to care for Youngers and even more advanced students who call upon them. Age and stature mean nothing. OCTs are here to help us wherever we are upon our paths to Wizardhood. They will assign lessons to us that we can handle, also, should our road become too rough, these benign beings will ease our passage if we call upon them. When we feel like a ship dashed upon the rocks, they are already reaching out to us, waiting for our call. Don't be too proud to call upon them, as we all turn to them at one time or another.

They are immensely powerful, and should we bite off more than we can chew, they can provide an alternate path that we can more easily follow or help us gain the Personal Power necessary to deal with the one we are traveling. All we have to do is ask. Hear that? Ask! Sometimes, however, they help us without our asking out of sheer compassion. Have you ever faced what you thought was sure death, but all of a sudden were snatched back from its snapping jaws? Heh, heh... Sometimes they do, and sometimes, they don't. Perhaps, someday, we shall know the criteria for their reasoning...

Their names are as the wind in the trees or the crashing of the surf or a falling leaf. Once we arbitrarily gave alternate pronounceable names for them and information on how to find them, but since then, we have learned that our teachers know who we are and will answer to any name we give them. So, choose two names for your OCTs, one male and one female, and establish a relationship with them. Teachers always come in male/female pairs for balance. Once you give your OCTs names, always use the same ones when calling them-- make them archetypal. Write them down in your journal so you won't forget them. You can't win if you don't play, so get started now!

    The Older Elders:

We are born into a world of lies and deceit with the deck stacked against us. The reason for that is to separate the strong from the weak, and the masters from the slaves. Nothing is without purpose-- even if we have not discovered what it is yet. Yes, there are natural masters and natural slaves. So it has always been, is, and ever shall be. Those who fear and are weak shall become slaves. Those who are strong and fear not life or death shall become masters. Let him who has ears, hear. We are all "becoming" something... When someone asks what you are doing, you many truthfully answer, "Becoming."

The Older Elders teach the lessons needed by Masters. Without them we would remain as slaves. Power attracts power, and "the more we do, the more we can do". If we want muscles, we must work out or do hard labor. If we want excellence, we must practice. There is no free lunch. If we want to become a Wizard, we must reach out far beyond the mundane and grasp the beating heart of the All in our hand. To do that, we will need lots of Personal Power. If we ask, our Older Elders will assign us lessons that will build our Personal Power. They are the middle level or "High School" teachers. We have two of them. One male and one female for balance. We wouldn't want to wind up with one leg shorter than the other, now would we... We have two OETs so pick two names, one masculine and one feminine, and make them archetypal, always using the same name, one for each of your middle teachers. Be sure to write them down in your journal so you don't forget.

    Older Master Teachers:

"We learn by living and we learn by doing." That is the motto of the Older Master Teachers. They are the college professors of the educational body of the Family Circle. Their lessons are most difficult, but as Wizards, we shall need them. How else could we deal with compound adversity or multiple delight? Most of these lessons will be about dealing with other people and our relationships with them. Many of these lessons will be quite trying, but always, remember if the lessons of the Older Masters become too difficult, we may contact our Older Comforter Teachers and ask them to tone them down a bit to where we can handle them. Seldom does one grow strong enough in this life to have no further need for the Older Comforter Teachers. Being too proud to call upon them would border upon stupidity, and that would be a sin. Needless suffering produces little of value. As always, you have two Older Master Teachers, one male and one female. So pick out two names, one masculine and one feminine and make them archetypal, always using the correct name to call one or both of your OMs. Don't forget to write them down in your journal so you remember them.

    Older Older Teachers:

Our Older-Older Teachers help us with building our "Rock Garden of Spirit." We begin as a little child, hence, "We begin small and grow large." Our Older Older Teachers teach us the lessons of "being" so we may better deal with them. We have twelve major positive states of being, and twelve major negative states of being. These are the "Rocks" we shall encounter along our path, and once we have mastered them properly, we can move them out of our way and add them to our rock garden! Our OOs help us to understand these "Little Monsters" and give us tips on dealing with them.

The twelve major positive states of being are:

    Adoration Desire
    Perseverance Purity
    Diversity Reason
    Sympathy Prudence
    Courage Stamina
    Patience Hope

The twelve major negative states of being are:

    Stupidity Limitation
    Ignorance Fear
    Idiocy Blindness
    Foolishness Carelessness
    Madness Laxity
    Hatred Irresponsibility

A full understanding of these twenty-four states of being will allow us to recognize them and control them. Self control is ultra important in being accepted into the Circle of Wizards as, Wizards may create or destroy. Consider that the next time you feel like hurling an ashtray at the TV set. As a Wizard, you could just as easily hurl an asteroid at one of your inhabited planets. Doing anything out of control is not looked upon well by your peer Wizards for obvious reasons. Naturally, you have two Older Older Teachers, one male and one female. So pick out two names, one masculine and one feminine and make them archetypal, always using the correct name to call one or both of your OOs. Don't forget to write them down in your journal so you remember them.

    Step 30

    "When Wizards minds are true
    The feeling is quite light
They've read their heart and done their best
And know that they are right

Because they're willing to take the time
To teach the lost the way
They've given those seekers another chance
And for them it's a brand new day."

    A TALE OF TWO EVILS

One day, a man found a beggar on the street. He picked him up and took him away from town and killed him for the thrill of killing him. This sort of action is of the First Evil as it satisfied the lower nature of that man at the expense of the beggar. Now, let us suppose that the beggar, down on his luck receives charity from various passersby. The sun rises, and he is a beggar. Later, the sun sets, and the man is still a beggar. This aspect is called the Second Evil as the gift of charity for the sake of charity only satisfied the do-gooder instinct. It is evil because the beggar was left in poverty with no way out, stripping the beggar of his self respect and ability to rise to the heights intended for him. Both of these possibilities lacked the power of the Force. The Second Evil would eventually kill the beggar just as dead as the First Evil. Therefore, both are equally evil. Now, let's suppose that the same beggar meets up with the Force. The man might begin his day as a beggar who is in constant need and so focuses upon drawing the attention of others who might give him a little food. Then at midday, he meets a wizard who teaches him to fish instead of feeding him. Now, in the space of one day, the beggar is no longer in need as he can easily feed himself. Next, well fed and happy, our beggar who no longer needs to beg chances upon another wizard who teaches him to plant a few seeds down by the river and shows him how to make a clay oven. Soon, the grain grows tall, and the beggar is a well man as he has both fish and bread to eat. On yet another fine day, a different wizard teaches the man how to make a loom and spin cloth from the stalks of his grain. Now he has clothes to wear. Soon, the man has a surplus and transports his wares to the market where he sells them for gold. Our beggar is now a successful merchant. He is also One Who Knows, for he is now learning the art of wizardry himself. On a future day, our new merchant wizard passes a beggar and shows him a better way. The circle is now complete. However, the power of the Force never fails or runs out. Our merchant may raise many beggars to one day become wizards. That is the Power of the Force. The Force is balanced and thus centered and acceptable. The concepts of good and evil are not centered and can only exist if an imbalance occurs. *NOTE: By the way, there are other ways to find spiritual guides, and many will come to you quite naturally once your open yourself enough to receive them. However, they can be a grab bag of mixed spirits, guides, and even lower astral riffraff that might provide less than satisfactory results. The reason the Circle of Wizards suggests calling on our Comforter, Elder and Master teachers is so that novice wizards can seek known beneficial guides who are willing to help them. It's sort of like having friends in high places. We've found it best to start small and grow large in easy levels as each association builds strength, wisdom and knowledge. Using our "First the toe in the pool" method of surfing the astral planes generally builds confidence and saves novice wizards from interacting with unknown spirits when their experience is short. As you might have guessed, some astral entities are less than friendly, and what would you do when confronted with one when you have no idea of how to handle it? It's best to warm up your engine before starting a race. By-the-way, if you ever should meet up with a less than desirable entity such as a demon, the word of banishment is "ognum" (oognaum). Of course, you have to issue the word with force as a command but then, that is what wizards are supposed to do anyway...
