The dragon knows what the knight can't
see. He holds his gold in hope of life
eternal. The dragon flies among the stars
and sees the world in ways only imagined
by the likes of man. He knows well the
tribes of man gone by and knows that not
all was man-- even then. The men of the
cross hunted him and tried to end
his ways, his language and unlock his
secrets.
The cowlends told the dragon, "Your
ways are not of man. You are not like us,
and you will die. Take your brothers, the
little elves and fairies, the trolls and the
goblins. Leave our land that was always
ours even though we never set foot on it
before, or we shall kill you."
Normally, the dragon breathed the breath of
fire and dissolved his enemies in tongues
of torment, but now, there be more men
than dragons, so he fled. The others of
whom they spoke shape shifted among men so
they kept their station in secret. Magic,
for a time was concealed. Life lost the
dragon. He fought hard, but man would
not stop his relentless killing. They slayed
young dragon children left and right and
destroyed their forests day and night.
Man was thrilled, saying, "We killed what
we didn't understand! We slayed, we
stomped and we killed. Oh yes, we did,
and we burned the children who read the
cards too! We poisoned the users of
magic so our offspring might reign in their
stead. Now, we will feed our vampiric
god with their flesh and blood at the alter
of sin. Then for a time, the last of the
dragons moved deep into the dark astral
caves, but then one day, magically, they
changed and took the shapes of men and joined
the dance.
The others not of man hid among men;
elf, fairy, troll, and goblin. So, ask your
self, "Could I be a dragon? Or could I be
another? What genes might travel in my
blood?" When you hear the wind and see
the sea, look into the troubled water and
try to see if you are human or if you are
not. Man is not the only beast to walk the
Earth, but he would have you believe it so!
