Now You Can Save Some Serious Money
On Long Distance Phone Calls.

Have you ever been shocked by a high home phone bill? Most of us have at one time or another. We either called more long distance out of state, out of the country or just out of our local dialing area than we thought. Remember how you felt when you opened your monthly phone bill and found that you owed all that money? Not fun, right?

Many people have family in the same state, but when calling in the same state, there is this little thing called a LATA which means that you are using more than one phone company's system. The secondary company's charges are then tacked on to your local phone company's charges. Sounds like taxes, doesn't it? Well, there are those to consider too. The higher your phone bill, the higher the taxes. Then there are those who must call out of the country. That can get really interesting as all the pipers between here and there must be paid!

Well, you can easily change all that. Now, you can call anywhere you want from your home phone anywhere in the continental United States to anywhere else in the continental United States for just a fraction of your local phone company's usual charges. Yes, anywhere, even from LATA to LATA in the same state. For example, If you live in Los Angeles and your Aunt Sarah lives in San Francisco, no problem. Actually, if she lived in New York, the one low cost per minute would be the same. No surprises as long as you call from a home phone, any home phone! The only way you can increase the cost is by using a pay phone or making a call from outside of the country of origination.

So how does this work? Easy! You buy an inexpensive phone card. Then you call the 800 number and punch in your pin number. You then dial Aunt Sarah or whomever you want. You may then talk your heart out. Like most everyone, I have a speed dialer on my phone, so I just press two buttons to get on the service and then dial my number unless it's on my dialer. In that case, I just press a third button. How's that for easy? However, remember if you use a pay phone, you will have to drop in some change as you would in making any other 800 number call.

Above is a chart that will show you exactly what the rates are. Just click on the country you want to call from in the first box and then the country you want to call to in the second box. In a moment, a page will come up that will provide you with the current rate information. Then, if you want to buy a phone card, and use your valid credit card, the company will email you the 800 access number and your pin. That's all you need to have instant gratification.

I've been using these cards for about a year now, and am totally pleased. I can even call from a friend's house without them incurring charges for my call. Cool! I cancelled my long distance service with my local phone company and told them that I would not accept any third-party calls, advising them that any charges over my basic phone rate, they could pay themselves. I also locked my account so no other phone company could bump me onto their service without my express permission.

Another cool thing. You don't actually need the phone card. Once you know the access number and your pin number, that's all you need. My girlfriend traveled to a neighboring state to visit her family. Well, I wanted to keep in touch with her, so I gave her my numbers so she could call me anytime she wanted. The same would be great for kids off to college and so on. Oh yes, there is a lot of crime these days, and a phone card can protect you from certain identity abuses. Once, someone made some third-party long distance calls to Hong Kong on my old house line, and I got their bill. That sure won't happen to me again. I like that kind of security, don't you?
